Boiler ignition and start-up faults
Fast, safe fixes for gas and electrical problems
If you hear the igniter clicking when you start the boiler but it never lights, or the boiler goes straight to an error code without responding at all, it can leave you without heat on the coldest days. Ignition problems are usually caused by an interrupted gas supply, electronic faults or a dirty ignition assembly. Dealing with them requires particular care and expertise.
How we fix ignition problems:
- Gas valve check: Testing that the valve controlling the gas supply to the boiler works properly and checking the gas pressure.
- Electrode cleaning: Removing carbon deposits from the ignition electrode and the flame-sensing (ionisation) electrode, or replacing them if they have failed.
- Restoring airflow: On room-sealed boilers, checking that the fan motor and the air pressure switch work correctly.
- Electronic control: Checking whether the main control board is sending the right signals to the ignition system.
Following strict safety procedures, we get your boiler lighting reliably and heating your home again.
