Boiler pressure problems

A lasting fix for pressure that drops or climbs

For a boiler to work properly, the water pressure in the system should normally sit at around 1.5 bar. If the display or gauge regularly drops to zero, or the pressure climbs on its own past 3 bar and water starts discharging from the safety valve, something is seriously wrong with the system. Left unchecked, pressure problems can damage expensive parts such as the pump and the main control board.

Why pressure changes — and what we do about it:

  • Pressure keeps dropping: Usually caused by tiny, invisible leaks in radiators, pipe joints or inside the boiler. Our engineers trace the leak and seal it.
  • Expansion vessel fault: If the vessel’s membrane is punctured or it has lost its air charge, the pressure shoots up as the boiler heats. The technician recharges the vessel or replaces it.
  • Faulty filling valve: If the valve you use to top up the system doesn’t close fully, water keeps flowing into the system. Replacing the valve restores the correct pressure.

By fixing unstable pressure, we make sure your boiler runs in a safe operating range.
